Job overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

We have 3 secondments within UHS Digital.

Two placements supporting the rollout of new end user devices (laptops and desktops). The successful candidates will be working in a small project team to review the oldest devices out in the trust, communicate with the users, and arrange a replacement device. You'll be configuring laptops and desktops for use, and delivering them to the locations. This is an exciting chance to develop some new skills.

The 3rd placement is with the UHS Digital Networking team - this is focussing on rollout of new wifi access points and switches. You'll be learning how the network functions and supporting the team in swapping out legacy devices for new equipment. This is a chance to learn how a corporate network functions and to expand your skills.

Working for our organisation

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

Depending on the team the specifics of the day to day will be different though the core job description is in alignment. Any shifts patterns will be agreed with the candidates to meet the needs of the team

1. Provide 2nd line support for all assigned systems, including fault finding, diagnosis and resolution of complex issues. This could include making edits to database records and configuration files, and reporting issues to software development teams.
2. Make configuration changes, or data corrections within assigned systems as required.
3. Ensure that calls that are referred onto  3rdparty suppliers for a resolution are monitored and have progress updates until resolution.
