Applicants are invited to apply for the post of full time consultant neonatologist. This post is a locum appointment with scope to become substantive in the future. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the innovative and dynamic Neonatal Intensive Care Service at University Hospitals Southampton (UHS) as a Consultant Neonatologist.
The successful applicant will join a team of 11 WTE neonatologists who provide a comprehensive neonatal service to medical and surgical neonates at Princess Anne Hospital in a 43 bed NICU (27 IC/ HDU, 16 SC). The NICU is the lead centre within the Wessex Neonatal Operational Delivery Network, providing tertiary neonatal services including cardiology and surgery together with complex babies requiring tertiary endocrinology, genetics, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgical, ophthalmology, ENT and respiratory services within Southampton Children’s Hospital. In addition, the NICU hosts the Southampton hub of the Southampton-Oxford Neonatal Transport Service (SONeT) and undertakes approximately 600 Network transfers per year. The post holder will have clinical commitment to the Neonatal service and the Network Transport service within Wessex.
