University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work in this training role with us as a senior clinical fellow in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and ITU for 3 months. You would join a team to provide anaesthesia and ITU care to patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgery and cardiological procedures.
Proposed start month: June 2026
The ideal candidate must have completed 3 years training in general anaesthesia and ITU in the UK, passed FRCA or equivalent, be keen to learn skills related to cardiothoracic anaesthesia and ITU and be able to integrate into the wider multidisciplinary team. The post would be ideal for those looking to complete the cardiothoracic competencies as part of the Portfolio Pathway application.
The cardiothoracic team is made up of many doctors, nurses and allied health staff who all worked together for the patients and to support each other. The patients are often complex and great team work is mandatory to ensure great outcomes for the patients.
This role is vital for the day to day care of the patients alongside the other team members both in and out of hours. You will work hard and enjoy the experience and rewards of working in a team that delivers excellent care to complex patients. You will also have access to the full competency-based teaching programme run by the cardiac anaesthesia department.
